It is too late to book a place for this particular session, sorry about that.

Fife Communities Climate Action Network (FCCAN) and Fife Climate Hub invite you to their first-ever Gathering.

The theme for the Gathering is Empowering communities to take action on the climate emergency, so they would love for you to help celebrate community climate action in FIfe and look to the future.

    Aims of the Gathering

    • Celebrate the achievements of FCCAN and of Fife Climate Hub during its first year
    • Celebrate and raise awareness of climate action taking place across Fife
    • Showcase some of the activities and projects of those community groups which received 2023/2024 Community Climate Grants
    • Provide inspiration and new ideas for attendees to take away, by hearing from our excellent keynote speaker, our panel, and other community groups
    • Provide us all with an opportunity to network with like-minded folks who care about the climate emergency

    Who is the keynote speaker?

The keynote address will be by Jess Pepper, Founder and Director of Climate Café® CIC and the Climate Cafe Hub. Jess has worked on climate communications and legislation for over 20 years, including at WWF Scotland and with the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition Scotland. Jess is on the BBC World list of 100 inspiring and influential women from around the world for 2023, and she was identified as one of 28 Climate Pioneers ahead of COP28.

    The panel

In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to hear from a panel of experts and climate action partners on what their organisations already do to empower communities to take action on the climate emergency, as well as their future plans. There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

The discussion will be chaired by Alistair (Ali) Macleod, FCCAN Board Director and Project Manager, Transition University St Andrews. The panel includes:

    • Cllr Jan Wincott – Spokesperson for Environment and Climate Change, Fife Council
    • Dr Crispin Hayes – FCCAN Director & Sustainable Cupar
    • Sandy Mackenzie – Employability Development Officer, Fife Voluntary Action
    • Ea O’Neill – Climate Action Fife Project Manager & Greener Kirkcaldy Community Engagement Team Manager
    • A further panellist to be added shortly

    Fife Community Climate Grants Showcase

During the gathering a number of community groups will share with us what climate action activities and projects they’ve undertaken as a result of receiving a Fife Community Climate Grant.

    Climate Action Marketplace

As a member of FCCAN, they would like to invite you to have a marketplace stal’ at the Gathering, to share with others the great work you do in your community. Browsing of the stalls will take place mainly during the lunch break at about 12.30pm, unless you are an early bird and you’re all set up for visitors to your stall during the pre-event refreshments.

Please contact them on [email protected] if you wish to have a stall at the event or would like more information. Space is limited so it will be a case of first come, first serve.

    How to book

The Gathering is open to any Fife-based community groups or individuals who wish to celebrate and hear about climate action across Fife. The event is free to attend but spaces are limited, so booking is required via this booking link.
