  • Latest Health and Social Care Forum Report

    Created: 31/10/2014

The Health and Social Care Forum met on Wednesday 01 October 2014 (older people’s day) to discuss co-production, integration and the opportunities available to the sector. Attendance at the forum remains consistently high and varied.

Mark McGeachie, National Co-lead for Co-production and Community Capacity Building, Joint Improvement Team and Lisa Curtice, People Powered Health and Wellbeing Programme Director, Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland presented on “Co-producing integration: the why and the how”. This presentation set out elements of a shared vision for integration, key pieces of legislation, the importance of decision-making with the third sector, co-creating culture change, and co-producing a better future for our communities.

Co-production is a key element of Health and Social Care Integration, you can read more on the policy drivers for co-production here. In Fife the Shadow Board is building engagement and consultation into their plans for integration and wish to encourage input from service users and the public, as well as colleagues from other sectors.

Other updates at the Forum include the Fife Council Funding Review, “What Works Scotland” and how Fife Voluntary Action are facilitating ways for the sector to work more efficiently together.

The Forum briefly discussed potential Community Capability Building proposals to the Integrated Care Fund and will continue to discussions at next month’s Forum.

Next month’s Forum on Thursday 06 November 10.00am - 12 noon at Fife Voluntary Action’s Glenrothes Office will welcome Heather Ford and Fiona McKenzie, Change Mangers, Health and Social Care Integration to consult on the proposed Localities for Integration. Following this the forum will continue the discussion on proposals for the Integrated Care Fund with a networking lunch provided between 12.00 to 1.00pm.
