    Summary of Strategic Plan

    The Integration Joint Board, the governing body of the Health and Social Care Partnership, have approved the plan which will drive the delivery of Health and Social Care services over the next three years in Fife.

    The Public Bodies Joint Working Scotland Act (2014) set-out in law the integration of health and social care services. The Act set out:
    • Nationally agreed outcomes, which will apply across health and social care, and for which NHS Boards and Local Authorities will be held jointly accountable;
    • A requirement on NHS Boards and Local Authorities to integrate health and social care budgets;
    • A requirement on Partnerships to strengthen the role of clinicians and care professionals, along with the third and independent sectors, in the planning and delivery of services.

    Fife has followed the body corporate model and created a new public body known as the Integration Joint Board (IJB). The IJB has representation from NHS Fife, Fife Council and a number of stakeholder representatives. Kenny Murphy, Chief Executive of Fife Voluntary Action is the third sector representative on the IJB.

    The Strategic Plan outlines four strategic priorities which were agreed during the three month consultation on the draft Strategic Plan. These are:
    • Prevention and Early Intervention;
    • Integrated and Coordinated Care;
    • Improving Mental Health Services;
    • Tackling Inequalities.

    There is a strong focus in the strategic plan to move towards delivering services that are more responsive to the individual, asset based and focused on outcomes.

    Fife Voluntary Action have worked hard to reflect the third sector during strategic planning meetings and we will continue to advocate on behalf of the sector.

    One of the key ways in which we engage with third sector organisations involved in Health and Social Care Services is through our Health and Social Care Forum which meets monthly, if you’re interested in finding out more about the Forum please contact Christine - 0800 389 6046.
