The aim of this training is to ensure participants have evidence based, unbiased information about infant formula milk and its appropiate use in infant nutrition.
Successful completion of this course will provide:
An awareness of the key constituents of and recent changes to, the composition of infant formula milks
Familiarity with current recommendations for the safe preparation and storage of infant formula
Familiarity with Baby Friendly Initiative best practice standards for mothers who choose to formula feed their infant.
An awareness of the International Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes and the NHS Fife Breastfeeding Policy related to the advertising of infant formula.
This course would be suitable for all those who have contact with pregnant women/new mothers and families and who discuss infant feeding as part of their role. For example, public health team staff, maternity services staff, local authority staff such as early years workers, nursery staff and voluntary sector staff.
