  • UK Aid Match Funding Relaunched

    Created: 14/11/2016
    News/Events Category: Funding and Finance

    The Department for International Development (DFID) has launched phase two of the UK Aid Match programme for UK based not-for-profit organisations working in eligible countries.

    The UK Aid Match programme aims to help UK non-profitmaking organisations change the lives of some of the world’s poorest people by matching public donations to charity appeals with funding from the international development budget.

    The second phase of UK Aid Match will build on the success of the current scheme by:

    • Supporting the achievement of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development through financing civil society projects; and
    • Providing opportunities for the UK public to engage with international development issues and have a say in how a portion of the international development budget is spent.

    It will do this by match funding public donations to appeals for projects to reduce poverty in developing countries.

    The countries that are eligible for organisations to implement their UK Aid Match-funded projects in are:

    Applicants must:

    • Be a UK-based, not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation delivering a project that reduces poverty in one or more of the eligible countries;
    • Be proposing to run an appeal for money from the UK public which aims to raise a minimum of £100,000; and
    • Be in partnership with an organisation(s) which can help publicise the appeal so that at least 400,000 opportunities for the public to view information about the appeal are provided.

    Grants of up to £5 million are available for each appeal.

    DFID will only match fund public donations which are given in response to the appeal.

    The deadline for concept notes is at 5.00pm on Tuesday 31 January 2017.
