    News/Events Category: General News

This is a direct appeal for your help in supporting Kirkcaldy Foodbank, whose work to feed hungry families in your community depends more than ever on donations.

Kirkcaldy Foodbank is an independent food bank and a registered charity with its own Board of Trustees and it is organised and staffed entirely by volunteers. Now in its third year of operation, Kirkcaldy Foodbank, working in close collaboration with a wide network of referrers and community-focused agencies, continues to supply food parcels to local people who find themselves in a situation of extreme food poverty.

Requests for help from those in very genuine need have increased steadily year on year. From December 2013 when Kirkcaldy Foodbank was first set up to July this year Kirkcaldy Foodbank has handed out in excess of 10,000 food parcels. A comparison of monthly totals for April, May, June and July 2015 with the same months in 2016 reveals a 60% increase in need. On average, the Foodbank is currently feeding 580 hungry people every month.

The Foodbank is entirely reliant on the generous response from local people and local businesses to its appeals for help and is currently collaborating with other locally-based agencies including Kirkcaldy 4 All, who have generously funded advertising space for the Foodbank in the Fife Free Press.

They value their business links very highly and appreciate the support given so willingly by local companies and their employees, whether in the form of financial or food donations, staff volunteering or in kind support. If you would like more information about Kirkcaldy Foodbank and its work or if you would like to explore ways of contributing to their funds or supporting them in other ways, please visit their website and have a look at their donate or get involved pages or contact them directly via their e-mail address: [email protected].
