    St Ninian's Charity Shop and Community Cafe are a charity based in the Glenwood Centre in west Glenrothes currently operating from two shop units – one as a charity shop with a community café in the adjoining unit.  Their objectives are:

    • To benefit an area of social deprivation by providing a charity shop staffed by some paid staff and volunteers, where donated goods may be purchased at a low cost
    • To provide emotional support and companionship for people in the community through low cost café staffed by some paid staff and by volunteers
    • To help lessen the financial burden of groups/individuals within Glenrothes and its surrounding area, with preference for the parish of St. Ninian’s Parish Church of Scotland, Glenrothes by distributing the profits of the shop and café to the community

    They are seeking to appoint a part-time Project Manager (job-share could be considered).  

    Their ideal candidate would possess the following qualities:

    Essential:

    • Supervisory / managerial experience
    • Confidentiality
    • Organised
    • Approachable
    • Sympathetic to Christian ethos
    • Passionate about project aims

    Desirable:

    • Community-based or have connection with the community
    • Experience of voluntary sector
    • Leader
    • Adaptable to change
    • Experience of working with management committee(s)

    Responsibilities of Role:

    • Awareness that the Board of Trustees are the employer(s) and you will be required to implement board decisions. Attendance at Management Committee meetings as required and work within the exigencies of the service;
    • Overall control and responsibility of shop and café of both staff and volunteers.  This includes supervision of all paid staff and volunteers;
    • Training of volunteers for charity shop and ensuring that café volunteers are given the necessary training by Café Cook;
    • Regular meetings with staff so that volunteering levels are appropriate and staffing is in place so that there is always a paid member of staff available.  Always be aware of the need to recruit and retain Volunteers;
