Fife alcohol Support Service is looking for Volunteer Trainee Counsellors to join our Counselling service. One-to-one confidential counselling is provided for individuals over the age of 16 years who are affected by their own or someone else's alcohol-related problem. The volunteers provide 3 hours per week to facilitate change using solution focused interventions with clients in a self-reflective practice.

The volunteers will be introduced to the agency and the services provided as well as a full induction of our Admin Processes, Agency Policies,and Procedures including Volunteer Counsellors Handbook.
Training will be provided in accordance with the requirements of the Scottish Addictions Consortium which includes 120 hours of Supervised Reflective Practice with a Personal Development Portfolio demonstrating evidence of the Trainee Counsellors development over this time.
Volunteer Trainee Counsellors must complete the agencies essential training within 1 year of commencing 2 additional relevant training per year to meet the CPD policy for agency staff.
Volunteers will be given 2x1hr Practice Supervision per month throughout the 2 year training period, and any further supervision as may be required to meet the criteria of their continued personal development.
Out of pocket expenses paid?
Yes - Mileage will be paid at 45p per mile and public transport rates will be fully reimbursed on a monthly basis.
Previous Counselling Training to COSCA Certificate/Diploma or equivalent is desirable.
The ability to work within supervised self-reflective practice.
To have a non-judgemental, genuine open and honest approach with the ability to demonstrate unconditional positive regard to all service users.
